Personalized guidance
When might this care be recommended?
- A tooth has extensive decay or significant damage.
- An infection or other clinical concern requires evaluation.
- Preserving the natural tooth is no longer the most reasonable option.
Star Spangled Smiles
Tooth extraction may sometimes be recommended when a tooth cannot reasonably be preserved or another clinical concern requires removal.
Understanding your care
Whenever reasonably possible, preserving a natural tooth is an important part of treatment planning. In some situations, however, extensive decay, significant damage, infection, or another clinical concern may make extraction the appropriate recommendation.
If a tooth is removed, we will discuss the area and the tooth-replacement options that may be relevant to you, including dental implants, bridges, and dentures.
